Awesome Fun Stampers Journey Masking Video

Stamped Background on a card front using the Elegant Flowers stamp set.

I created this card using a technique I saw from an email or a You Tube video.  I don’t remember if there was a name for it and don’t remember who shared it.  I would love to give you credit if it was yours so please let me know.  (please excuse my photo, I couldn’t get the crop to work very well for me)

The supplies I used for my card are as follows.

• Fun Stampers Journey Oatmeal Cookie Cardstock
• Fun Stampers Journey Whip Cream
• Fun Stampers Journey Elegant Flowers stamp set
• Spectrum Noir Blending Solution (Gamsol)
• Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils (Floral & Nature Sets)
• Paper Stump
• Paper trimmer with decorative blade

I started out by cutting my 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock in half to make a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card.  I used the decorative blade on my paper trimmer on the lower edge of the card to give it a scalloped edge.

In the next step I inked my stamps with Whip Cream and stamped randomly on the front of card, sometimes stamping off the edge.  Let the ink dry completely so it won’t smear.

Using the floral set of the blendable pencils I selected a light and a dark color.  I colored my image with the light pencil first and then highlighted with the dark pencil.  After I finished coloring I put a small amount of blending solution on a paper stump and using a circular motion went over the entire stamped image to blend the colors and remove the pencil lines.  I used this process on each of the stamped images.  I didn’t color the complete image so some of the Whip Cream ink would show through to add a little dimension.

I will be trying this technique again with other stamp sets.  I want to try it with the Christmas Melody stamp set.
